This year it is a 100 years ago that on 11 November 1918 the ceasefire was concluded with which the First World War ended.
On the same day, the Wilhelm arrived at Castle Amerongen.
At the request of the Dutch government, Graaf van Aldenburg Bentinck gave him shelter.
Initially Wilhelm would stay for 3 days, but in the end he stayed 18 months.
In 2018, Kasteel Amerongen will take a close look at this historic period. Help, the emperor is coming! takes the visitor on 3 June 2018 to the turbulent period around the stay of the German Emperor Wilhelm II
